I Left My Corporate Job To Give Myself 6-Months to Make Something Pop

It wasn’t my goal to leave my corporate job however I was presented with two options, sign a PIP or leave with two months severance.

I choose the latter and I choose me.  My job nor my previous manager didn’t deserve me.

The following week after leaving my job, I took some time to celebrate my birthday in Vegas in classic fashion.

The first full week after Vegas, I started working for myself. That meant, taking inventory of physical product things that I needed to sell as well as digital products that I always wanted to launch.

Sitting on a a whole consulting business I was sure I wanted to pivot from proposal management.

I started learning about AI in 2021 and now was time to dig in on this AI revolution and continue to work on my AI projects.

Often hearing stories about solopreneurs making a killing launching micro SaaS products, I know that was exactly what I wanted to do.

Operation 6-Months to Make Something Pop

I will admit, with a Journalism degree, I have not background in marketing whatsoever.

Most of my learning is from the school of hard knocks. Whatever, I set my mind to do I’m going to do that exactly.

Yet, I’m also smart enough to know if something doesn’t work to move the heck on.

Therefore, I have a number of projects that I’m looking to launch before the end of the year. In no particular order:

1. Chat with a PDF AI Tool

This was probably my very first AI project that I wanted to put out. I purchased a course to teach me how to develop it however, I never got through the entire course.

Fast forward, with the advancement of LLM’s, I was fortunate to discover a much faster way to develop my app with this totally new methodology of Vibe Coding.

I locked in. Finally, I was able to translate what I wanted in natural language and develop the apps that I’ve always wanted to develop.

What’s the saying, “Scared Money Don’t Make Money.” I upgraded my free tier of a Vibe Coding platform to a pro subscription.

This was my time and opportunity to finally create SaaS products that I wanted to use in my workday.

The app is called iChatPDF. It is nearly production ready and will be launching soon.

2. eBay Listing Description AI Tool

This is another project that I’ve been working on. My wife and I have been selling on eBay for sometime and have had many highs and lows on the platform.

A few years ago I discovered that many eBay sellers were optimizing their listing descriptions using HTML.

This screamed “MySpace-ish” as I thought how cool it would be to create a HTML-based description to wow my prospective buyers.

I tested a few HTML-based listings and came up with one template that I felt did an awesome job and one that converted well.

This is where I discovered that I can create a eBay listing description generator and offer it as a SaaS micro service.

Another app that is nearly completed and ready for production.

I know, I should just drop it now but I swear I don’t want what would be potential users abusing my app since I don’t yet have the payment processing feature yet.

Right now if I launch, it would be a “free-for-all” and that’s not my intended goal. I think that this app will certainly be one that will bring me anywhere between $2K – $5K in MRR.

Stay toon!

3. Bounce House Marketplace

I created a bounce house marketplace a little over a year ago with a goal of helping bounce house owners have their own dedicated marketplace platform for booking and accepting payments online.

I still think a bounce house marketplace is a viable business idea. For what its worth, someone previously stole my pool sharing business idea but I quickly saw too many risks involved in that business model.

There are a few tweaks that I have to do to BouncieHouse but I’m positive with the right marketing strategy, people will see the value in this app.

4. PDF to Excel Generator

I recently saw a YouTube video of some guy making $40K MRR after he created a PDF to Excel generator website from the need to turn his PDF banking statements into Excel files.

In my Bill Cosby voice, “Challenge!” I swear, if I make anything close to $40K MRR with a micro SaaS product, I’m  going to scream to the mountain tops.

5. Proposal Knowledge Base SaaS Tool

Now what type of proposal expert would I be if I didn’t work on a tool that was directly correlated to my corporate profession.

Many companies still struggle with managing their content. A knowledge base SaaS Tool is just what I created.

While still in development, I have a bit to go before this is ready for prime-time. Having gone through a full implementation of a competing solution, I know how big these contracts came be.

Therefore, as a solopreneur, I’m going to price competitively to ensure that my solution makes sense for small-to-medium size businesses.

If larger business’ find it useful, I’m sure that I would be able to scale to accept the amount of people they would need to provide access.

6. Murry Consultancy

I started Murry Consultancy to offer proposal services to small to medium size business. Today, Murry Consultancy is a web development agency.

Just like the web apps that I’m developing, Murry Consultancy’s goal is to help business with new web development needs.

Additionally, I’m currently looking to make Murry Consultancy a conglomerate of all of my companies. This is partially due to the fact that I want to see how much revenue I can generate from my apps under the same umbrella.

Comment below and let me know whether or not if this is a good idea.

7. An App for Beginner-to-Intermediate Ear-Trained Piano Players

I’m a musician at heart and have been playing the keyboard for years. Yet, I never thought there was a better time to share my knowledge with the world.

Now, this one is going to be a fun one for me specifically because I’ve been in the trenches and often hoped and wished for something like this product (still keeping it hush hush).

Therefore, I’m cooking up something special for those who finally want to learn how to play popular songs that they know and love without headache.

I won’t spill the beans too much about this project just yet but there’s definitely more to come on this.

8. Wave Light Headlamp

I had to get a bit more creative and figured why not create a single product ecommerce app that really sells.

Introducing Wave Light Headlamp. This site looks so good and just to think that I created it vibe coding.

This type of app is really one of the easiest to create out of the bunch. After fixing a issue and testing it with the payment processor, I am happy to say that this app is live.

Take a peek here.

Well there you go, I’m in month four of my 6-Month goal to make something pop. Nevertheless, I’m still interviewing just in case none of my apps go anywhere.

Yet, I’m going to try and keep the blog updated on the progress of my apps.
